Experience documenting enterprise, server-based software for the video-on-demand, cable, or telecommunications industry is a plus.

Experience writing for multiple concurrent audiences, including end-users, administrators, developers, and integrators, is a plus.

Familiarity or experience creating documentation for commercial software in an Agile development environment is a plus.

Information Mapping certification is a plus.

We are looking for an experienced technical writer to design and develop documentation and training material for a suite of product offerings. Documentation and training will be developed for a broad audience of users, ranging from highly technical system support personnel to system end-users. This position will report to the Vice President of Engineering.

What you need for this position:

- 2+ years’ experience in the design and implementation of a variety of documentation types for a wide range of uses and audiences.

- Advanced knowledge of MS Word, RoboHelp HTML, Adobe Acrobat, Frame Maker, and a graphics package such as Paint Shop Pro.

- Experience creating user guides, online help systems, training materials, and corporate style guides

The security policies that you will be working on include: routers, MS Servers, Linux Server, Desktops, smart phones, and databases, unauthorized attempts to access information, secure backup, transport and storage of proprietary info, a business continuity plan, performing regular vulnerability scans on external and internal systems, data loss prevention, and acceptable use of personal IT assets.

Ideally you will have templates already created for security policies documentation. We are flexible on the tools you use to develop this documentation. This is a 3 month contract position in Atlanta.

Required Experience:

POSITION SUMMARY:

Experienced technical writer required for production of internal support documentation of Enterprise-class Windows and UNIX-based distributed infrastructure platforms.

DOCUMENTATION FORMATS: Online knowledgebase and printed guides.

QUALIFICATIONS:

• 5 years minimum experience producing technical documentation, preferably in the systems/hardware IT area.
• Four-year college degree, preferably in Computer Science or English.
• Working knowledge of infrastructure server farms, network communications protocols, firewall security, system/application monitoring, WAN/LAN configurations.
• Excellent written and verbal skills. Must be able to build a rapport with distributed engineers, working closely with them to produce comprehensive documentation that describes sophisticated infrastructure platforms for internal support staff consumers.
• Excellent organizational and time management skills. Must be able to juggle multiple projects under deadlines while being flexible to accommodate shifting schedules.
• Self starter. Must be able to take projects and run with them with very little supervision. Must be analytical with a thirst for new technological knowledge. Proven track record of performing research and independent self-study as part of production of documentation deliverables.
• Strong Visio skills/experience.
• Experience with running/hosting WebEx sessions. Position requires hosting both large WebEx presentation-type sessions and smaller collaborative WebEx sessions.
• Knowledge/experience of documentation standards and processes with ability and willingness to collaborate with peers in the documentation team to develop and refine them.
• Hands on experience working with Remedy Knowledge Management module a plus.

Project Description:
Create web-based, leader-led and virtual training content for the Information Technology (IT) Group.

Description:
This position is responsible for creating (and supporting) training solutions for the IT and Security organizations. This position will use industry- standard instructional design models in the design, development and implementation of learning solutions in various delivery platforms,including but not limited to, self-paced, interactive web-based, 3D virtual environments, synchronous and asynchronous virtual classroom, and instructor-led training. The knowledge and use of appropriate industry-standard development tools to create all training deliverables, whether e-Learning , training simulations, content storyboarding, voice over recordings, graphics creation, etc. is required. This position will create job aids, workbooks, levels 1, 2 or 3 assessments, or student and instructor guides and will have to coordinate with remote SMEs and other stakeholders in order to conduct needs analysis and usability assessments for deliverable’s.
